One can explore the interior of Mauritius from here very easily as the National Park of Black River is nearby.  A drive to the centre of the island through the mountains of Black River is recommended with a visit to the seven coloured earths en route.  The rugged South is also easily accessible, not forgetting the breathtaking views from Le Morne Peninsula, which is located to the South Southwest, almost on top of the world.
